Perrin Technique for CFS/ME
The Perrin technique is a manual system of diagnosis and treatment that has helped hundreds of patients with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME. The technique was developed by Dr Raymond Perrin and is based on the understanding that CFS/ME involves a disturbance of the drainage of toxins from the brain and muscles. Many of these toxins are the result of viruses, bacteria, parasitic infections or environmental toxins such as pesticides entering the body. However many toxins are simply an over production of chemicals naturally produced by the body to help the immune system fight infections, inflammation and stress. In the case of CFS/ME many of these toxins build up in the central nervous system causing dysfunction in different parts of the brain and spinal chord.
The Perrin technique as used by Jonathan Shaw, the principle Osteopath of the Clinic, aims to manually stimulate the drainage of the offending toxins from the central nervous system .The technique involves the use of lymphatic drainage, gentle exercises and nutrition to aid in the recovery and return to health.
Dr Perrin himself has trained Jonathan Shaw in the pathology, applied anatomy, physiology and methods of diagnosing and treating CFS/ME.
